CLUBB GROUP FINANCIAL CONTROLLER SETS SIGHTS ON SUPPORTING COMPANY’S FUTURE GROWTH

01 02 2024 | Darren

Clubb Sand and Gravel has expanded its Senior Management Team with the appointment of a new financial controller.

Samantha Beedle took-up the role in January at Clubb’s offices in Fareham, Hampshire.

With a wealth of finance management and accountancy experience to call upon, Samantha said she was excited to be embarking on a new career adventure at Clubb.

Samantha said the key to her decision to join Clubb was the company’s status as a family-run business. For more than 90 years, Clubb has operated as an enterprising, independent venture, supplying primary aggregates such as stone and sand to businesses throughout north Kent and south east London. The company’s current head office near Dartford, Kent was also the site where operatives hand-dug the quality natural materials which established its reputation in the 1930s.

“Being offered the Financial Controller’s role at Clubb made for a great start to the new year,” she said. “The team are super-friendly and have made me incredibly welcome. I’m looking forward to making my mark, ensuring systems work as efficiently as possible to support the businesses’ future growth.”

Clubb has since added a marine aggregate wharf, and two ready-mixed concrete plants to boost its manufacturing capability. This has ringfenced the quality of the company’s products, as the extraction and delivery of each one is overseen by Clubb in a fully-controlled environment.

As Financial Controller, Samantha will run a team of eight staff. In her ‘hands-on’ role, she said she is looking forward to ingratiating herself with Clubb’s products and processes. “I really like to get involved in a business,” she said. “I like to get to know the products, particularly how they are manufactured. There are many strands to Clubb’s business, but we are one team. Therefore, any insights I can gain in respect of a product’s composition could prove a useful support function to the people selling them. I see it as all part of Clubb’s service to staff and customers.”

Speaking of Samantha’s appointment, Larry Dale, Managing Director said: “We are delighted to have Samantha on board as Financial Controller. She has a depth of experience and a real passion for the role. She has made an instant positive impact through her work and her personable qualities. We’re confident Samantha’s abilities will be a real asset in all areas of the Clubb Business.”
